Leadership Vision
As a member of a community committed to ethical action in an interconnected world, I envision a global beloved community: one that begins in the home and extends into the schools, businesses, facilities, and the infrastructure of individual nations. It will allow a space for people to reach their potentials and interact with each other on a foundation of mutual respect. It will be a community where each of us takes ownership over our actions and words, and works toward resolving conflict in a nonviolent manner, where there is an understanding that lessons can be learned from us all and cultural diversity is viewed as part of what makes the human experience worthwhile.
Project Description
The club, Students for Global Peacebuilding, plans to facilitate Peace Week and the Peace in Action Summit. We will educate the campus on conflict resolution methods and inspire others to engage in peacebuilding activities. We will host campus-wide activities, invite guest speakers, hold movie screenings and facilitate discussions throughout the week. During the main event, the Peace in Action Summit, students will be able to attend panels, guest speakers, and workshops intended to provide conflict resolution skills applicable to daily life. In an effort to strengthen our campus community, we will collaborate with other campus clubs and organizations to participate in the creation of these events.
